В повечето от тези заглавия има изобилие от познати теми като феминизъм, расизъм срещу чернокожи, лоши бели мъже, климатична истерия…
При актрисите се очертава солидна конкуренция между Никол Кидман, Джесика Частейн, Пенелопе Крус, Оливия Колман и Кристен Стюарт. За приза за най-добър актьор ще се състезават Хавиер Бардем, Бенедикт Къмбърбач, Андрю Гарфилд, Уил Смит и Дензъл Уошингтън.
В категорията за най-добра режисура са номинирани Стивън Спилбърг, Кенет Брана, Рисуке Хамагучи, Пол Томас Андерсън и Джейн Кемпиън.
С най-много номинации общо са феминисткия уестърн, режисиран от Джейн Кемпиън „Силата на кучето“ с 12 и фантастичния епос на Дени Вилньов „Дюн“ с 10. Церемонията по връчването е на 27 март тази година в Лос Анджелис.
